Everything, and I mean everything is bigger in Texas
So I'm visiting what used to be the fattest city in the US (unfortunately Detroit recently took over claim to that title), the most polluted city (yes, surpassing LA) and the "Tree-est City" (which according to my friend Jeff is Houston's creation since all of their other titles suck). The city itself (not including suburbs) is 8 times as large as NYC (geographically, of course). I'm staying in my sister's new in-laws place, and it's fucking huge! It's down the street from where the Enron CEO lived...and died. However, these huge houses (which could swallow Palo Alto houses in a single bite) are much cheaper than the Cali houses around Stanford proving that people who want to crowd into over-populated California just don't know where it's at. The houses here are surround by acres of land. My sister claims that they were so cheap because this suburb used to be in the middle of nothing. However, now Sugar Land, TX has it's own mall, schools and country club. I suppose if you build it, they will come fits here.

    A Hurricane in Tulsa
So I have been completely out of contact with my friends for the last few days, and with the 21st century thanks to the hurricane force winds that passed through Tulsa on Wednesday. 85 mph!!! The most exciting part was that the winds completely uprooted a huge-ass tree in the Kellough's front yard which landed on our neighbor's SUV AND Porshe.

    Mother Nature - 2 Mankind - 0

Along with uprooted trees came a loss of electricity, which just came back on this morning, thank God. The funny thing is that school for Caroline was cancelled because of lack of electricity, even though it was Civil War reenactment day. I can think of no better way to show these Middle Schoolers what war is like than to have them running around chaotically in the dark. But I guess that's just me.
